520 | _aThe reuse of treated wastewater can be enabled by river purification or SAT or both. The performance of the open channel purification system is mainly a function of the travel time. The removal efficiency is found to be about 50-70% for travel time less than 5 days. Also using weirs or drops enhances the reaeration and decreases the wastewater velocity in the channel yielding better purification. For soil aquifer treatment, the concentration of the contaminant is totally removed in the first layer of the soil, which differs from one soil type to another but generally ranges between 3 and 9 m | ||
