520 | _aThis study aimed at evaluating the effects of thyroid hormone (TH) on Ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI) in rat liver. Results: group II, showed no significant difference in the mean serum AST & ALT levels compared to the control rats. H&E sections revealed similar histological architecture of the liver parynchema as in control group. The statistical difference of the optical density of PAS and the mean area % of CD68 & iNOS immunoreactivity was non significant as compared with the control.. Group III showed significant increased in the mean serum AST & ALT levels compared to the control group. The H&E stained liver sections revealed disorganization, degeneration and necrosis of the hepatocytes with significant decrease in of the optical density of PAS and significant increase in the mean area % of CD68 & iNOS immunoreactivity compared to the control. Group VI showed significant decrease in the mean serum AST & ALT levels with decrease in the histological alterations caused by IRI. There was significance increase in the optical density of PAS reaction and significance decrease in the mean area % of CD68 and iNOS immunoreactivity when compared to the IRI group. Conclusion: TH have protective effect against hepatic IRI | ||
