520 _aThis work introduces a theoretical method which can restore some of the low energy x- ray photons that do not reach the detector due to the breast attenuation and that will increase the quality of the processed mammography image. This is performed by measuring the incident x- ray tube spectrum, the transmitted x- ray spectrum through the breast and the thickness of the imaged breast then extrapolating the attenuation coefficient toward the low energy region. As a result the optimum energy weighting SNR was enhanced for the two different x-ray spectra with and without Mo filter about 36% and 46% respectively
