520 | _aA study was conducted to investigate the levels of infection of non human primates (NHP) by different gastro intestinal parasites of NHP (10 species) at Giza zoological garden (GZG) during the period from December 2014 to November 2015. It was found that the highest prevalence of infestation was recorded in family: humanidae (100%) followed by family: cercopithecidae (tribe: papionini 68%, while it reached to 62.22% in tribe: cercopithecini). No parasitic infestations were diagnosed in examined animals belong to family: cebidae. Three different gastro intestinal nematodes (GIN) species were diagnosed include trichuris sp.(39.6%), enterobius sp. (5.5%), trichostrongylus sp. (24.2%), as well as 4 types of protozoans include entamoeba sp. (31.9 %), balantidium sp. (12.1%),, giardia sp. (7.7 %), and cryptosporidium sp. (14.3 %),, Also two types of cestodes (bertiella sp. 1.10%and Hymenolepis nana4.4%) recorded in the examined NHP species. There were seasonal variations recorded during the study with high infection rate during summer season | ||
