520 _aBackground: Malnutrition is common in dialysis patients and closely related to morbidity and mortality. The overall management of chronic kidney disease CKD focuses on medication, dialysis, transplant and nutrition. Proper nutrition plays a key role in disease prevention and treatment. Many patients understand this link and look to physicians for guidance. However, there is limited information on the nutrition knowledge on management of (CKD) among healthcare work. Aim and objectives: This intervention study aimed at assessing the nutritional knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of the health care providers before and after the nutrition education intervention sessions and their impact on ESRD patients' nutrition knowledge and practice and patients{u2019} laboratory parameters. Subjects and Methods: This study was conducted in the two dialysis units present in Cairo University hospital on 2 groups of participants: 46 health care providers, (7 physicians, 39 nurses) and a total of 120 dialysis patients (all patients attending in both units). Results: The pre intervention nurses' total knowledge was (30.9% ± 12.7% and 30.2% ± 11.5%), total attitude was(30.9% ± 12.7% and 30.2% ± 11.5%) and total practice was (30.9% ± 12.7% and 30.2% ± 11.5%) for intervention and control groups, respectively. The pre intervention physicians' total knowledge was (21.8% ±25.9 %), total attitude was (62.2% ± 5%), and total practice was (86.3% ± 11.6%). The pre intervention patients{u2019} total knowledge was (32.6% ±21.7 % and 24.5 % ± 20.6%), and total practice was (8.8% ±19 % and 7.6% ± 17.6%), for intervention and control groups, respectively. Direct evaluation of the nutrition intervention was conducted on the nurses{u2019} intervention group. Their total knowledge (72.3% ±34 %), total attitude was (84.8% ± 30.5%) and total practice was (92.3% ±7.6 %), showed significant improvement than the pre intervention scores( P-value<0.001).Indirect evaluation of the nutrition intervention was conducted on the dialysis patients to assess the impact of the change in nurses{u2019} KAP, The patients' total knowledge (55% ± 24.7%) and total practice was (25.6% ±29.2 %), results improved statistically significant showed than the pre intervention scores (P-value<0.001)
