520 | _aFrom this study it could be concluded that: 1- Lag applied rapidly with no waste of time for adaptation of the plate allowing more anatomical reduction without reduction in rigidity . 2- Anatomically lag screws provided accurate reduction, especially in sagital fractures 3- The cost of lag screws are cheaper than bone plates. 4- Less implant material and Shortening the time of operation. 5- Less surgical exposure, sub periosteal dissection and degloving of the periosteum in comparison to bone plates. 6- Lag screws Lack of stress shielding principle (which is present with compression plates. where functional forces instead of being distributed through the center of the bone pass through and are absorbed by the plate and the cortex to which the plate has been attached resulting in a local unloading of the bone and subsequent bone porosis). Therefore lag screws do not require further removal. 7- The lag screw is the strongest and the stiffest in comparison to locking and non locking mini plates and compression plates. Hence lag screw provide better mechanical properties in comparison with other plating systems The use of computer guided technology provided a signi{uFB01}cant advancement and improvement in the {uFB01}eld of osteosynthesis | ||
