520 _aCardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a major public health burden in Egypt with high mortality rate. Emerging research has suggested an association between vitamin D insufficiency and cardiovascular disease as low serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) was associated with higher for CVD. Vitamin D binding protein (VDBP) is the main systemic transporter of vitamin D and its common genetic polymorphisms result in the expression of different proteins with different affinities for vitamin D.
