520 | _aObjective: Optic canal involvement is a prominent feature of many meningiomas of the anterior and middle cranial fossae, presented mainly with deterioration of vision, we aimed to perform a predictive regression model, determining the variables mostly associated with visual outcome, especially that with anterior clinoid process resection. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 109 patients with meningiomas associated with optic canal involvement. With only the surgical options of treatment, fully detailed neurological examination conducted, especially the visual parameters of visual acuity, field and fundus pre- & post-operatively. Results: 60 % of cases had visual acuity better than or equal 6/12.All the patients undergone surgical removal of the tumor, with anterior clinoidectomy in 56 % of them only. Then we studied them (109 cases) regarding the visual improvements (VA & VF) postoperatively than the preoperative state & the relation between it and other variables. For Visual acuity of the right eye, there was positive change in 7.34 % of total cases, negative change in 2.75 % & no change in89.91 %, concluding that the positive change became 72.7 % with 27.3 % negative change in changed patients, in other terms, there is a positive effect of surgery on the visual acuity & field in the right eye only, but we noticed that there is no significant difference either with ACP resection or not, also improvements were towards the smaller sized tumors in the visual acuity of the right and left eye. Strangely, we noticed only improvement in the group of incomplete resections of tumor only in the right eye visual acuity | ||
