520 _aBackground: obesity is a major public health concern that has many complications and associated with many life threatening comorbidities. LSG is one of the most famous, safe and effective bariatric procedures worldwide ,the relation between the resected gastric volume and the weight loss after LSG appear conflicting in the literature. Both the residual and the resected volumes represent the total gastric volume, and if the weight loss is related to one of the two volumes, it should be related to the other. The aim is to investigate the influence of the resected gastric volume on the weight loss after surgery. Methods:Forty consecutive patients with BMI >40 kg/m2 or 35kg/m2 with medical comorbidities underwent LSG between March 2017 till September 2017 and were analysed prospectively. The pre-operative stomach volume was measured by MDCT done 1{u2013}3 days before the surgery. LSG was performed in the standard manner using a 36F bougie. The volume of excised stomach was measured by distending the specimen with saline and air pressure. MDCT of the upper abdomen was repeated one month postoperatively to calculate the gastric sleeve volume. The %EWL was calculated at 3, 6 months postoperatively .The correlation between the VRS and %EWL was statistically evaluated. Results: 40 patients 26 females (65% ) and 14 males (35%), Mean BMI 43.5 kg/M2 ,Mean age 30.5.18 patients had comorbidities, 22 patients were medically free, 14 patients were diabetic only, 3 patients were hypertensive, only one patient was diabetic and hypertensive, 2 patients had bone and joints comorbidities ,4 patients developed post op port site wound infection, 2 patients developed post op hemorrhage, no patients developed post op leakage.
