520 _aThe present study was performed to compare the effect of low level laser therapy versus low intensity pulsed ultrasound on bone formation in cystic defects following apicectomy/cystic enucleation. Was done on twenty four healthy female patients of middle age range from 20 - 44.with Cystic lesion in the anterior maxillary region. Treatment by enucleation of cystic lesion was the treatment of choice for all patients without using bone grafting materials. The patients were divided into three equal groups, eight patients for each; Laser (n=8) patients were subjected to low intensity diode laser immediately after surgery and then for three times per week for two weeks, Ultrasound (n=8) patients were subjected to LIPU through an ultrasound device, the sessions were repeated for 15 days, 5 sessions per week for a period of three weeks, and Control (n = 8) patients were not subjected to either low level laser therapy or pulsed ultrasound LIPU. The healing process was evaluated regarding postoperative pain, swelling, mucosal texture, color and presence of wound infection and radiograghically at day1 after surgery and after 3 months by DIGORA system. For day 1 There was no statistically significance difference between (Ultrasound) (55.76±7.06), (Laser) (56.26±9.73) and (Control) (56.39±8.74) where (p=0.9).while at day 90 There was a statistically significance difference between (Laser) (100.11±5.73) on one hand and each of (Control) (70.04±6.48) and (Ultrasound) (71.53±5.89) on the other hand where (p=0.001) and (p=0.001) respectively. While no statistically significance difference was found between (Control) (70.04± 6.48) and (Ultrasound) (71.53±5.89) where (p=0.5). The results of this study suggest that LLLT can enhance the bone healing of maxillary cystic defects. This can serve as an adjunct method in preventing possible delayed healing and possible pathological fractures following enucleation of large cystic lesions or tumor removal. This also will be helpful for more researches that will help in early loading in case of dental implants as it can accelerate osseointegration
