520 _aOctober oil field lies in the central part of the Gulf of Suez. The field is located about 135 km SSE of Suez City. October oil field is one of the giant oil fields in Egypt. It is marked the initial discovery of Nubian reserves in the northern half of the Gulf of Suez. This study used the geochemical analyses done by Stratochem Ltd in courtesy to GUPCO to compare among the organic geochemical parameters of the pre-rift Brown Limestone source rock (Campanian-Maastrichtian) and the syn-rift Lower Rudeis Formation (Middle Miocene) source rock, in order to investigate the quantity, quality, source(s) and maturity level of the organic matter. Another comparison between the TOC% analyzed data and that derived from wireline logs (e.g., Passey et al., 1990) to validate the prediction of TOC% from wireline logs in the study area. The study provides an update of the 1D burial history and maturity models to determine the accurate timing of the onset, peak, and end of oil generation. The stratigraphy shows that the Campanian-Maastrichtian Brown Limestone consists mainly of pure limestone deposited under a deep marine system according to the foraminiferal assemblage. A notable enhancement of geochemical parameters (i.e. TOC% and quality of organic matter) occurs from NW to SE of the area of study. Campanian-Maastrichtian Brown Limestone is good to very good source rock with more influx of land-derived organic material is coming from the NW direction. The Middle Miocene Lower Rudeis Formation shows characteristic lithologic changes vertically and laterally that reflect sea level fluctuation and facies change during its deposition, which affected the vertical and lateral geochemical parameters. Vertically the lower part of this Formation is sandy with low TOC% that reflects a relatively shallower marine system and it turns into marly in the upper part of the section where the TOC% increases. Laterally, the sand content of the Formation decreases in the southern part of the area
