520 | _aThis study aimed at evaluating the flipped method as an innovative method of teaching in an Egyptian setting. The main tenet behind the flipped classroom is that it encourages students to perform what is traditionally done in class to be done at home and focus attention during class time on various activities. The study concerned itself with investigating the effect of the flipped classroom on the students{u2019} language proficiency. In addition, it investigated students{u2019} attitudes toward the flipped classroom. The study followed the quasi-experimental design. The study employs videos and practice exercises at home, in addition to the exercises in the book and communicative activities in the classroom. The study included 38 participants from The Centre for Foreign Languages &Professional Translation located in Cairo University. The number of students enrolled in the control group is 19 students. In the same way, the number of students enrolled in the treatment group is 19 students. According to the results of the study, the flipped classroom proved to improve students{u2019} use of tenses. On the other hand, there was not a significant difference regarding students{u2019} listening and reading skills. In addition, the overall results of the questionnaire proved to be in favor of the flipped classroom. The importance of the study lies in its attempt to evaluate an innovative model of teaching in an Egyptian setting thereby adding to the limited research in the area | ||
