520 | _aThe present experiment was conducted during 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 seasons at the experimental nursery of Ornamental Horticulture Department, Fac. of Agric. Cairo University, Giza, to study the effect of foliar spray of microelements, humic acid, chitosan and brassinolide on growth, yield, essential oil and chemical composition of marjoram (Majorana hortensis Moench) plant. 1-Effect of microelements: Data showed that plant height increased with supplying plants with Se and B at the high concentration. In both seasons, the second cut significantly formed more branches than the first cut. All the treatments (Se and B) increased the formation of branches- Se and B at the high level formed more branches. There were significant differences between the first and second cuts for fresh weight of herb/plant. Boron at 50 ppm was the most effective for increasing the fresh weight of herb. Treating marjorana plants with Se had no clear trend on fresh weight of herb. The second cut gave heavier fresh weight of herb than first cut. Treating the plants with the high level of B in the first season and the second one, gave the heaviest dry herb. In the first season, oil % was significantly higher in the first cut than the second one, in the second season, the opposite trend was recorded. Boron at 50 ppm was the most effective treatment for increasing essential oil % in the first and second seasons, followed by Se at 50 ppme in the second cut of the second season | ||
