520 _aThis thesis is concerned with the development of different analytical methods for exploring the impurity profile of some active pharmaceutical ingredients. Two mixtures are selected for the study, the first mixture consists of lidocaine and prilocaine and represents an example of active pharmaceutical ingredients in presence of their degradation products impurities while the second mixture consists of paracetamol and chlorzoxazone and represents an example of active pharmaceutical ingredients in presence of their process related impurities. The aim of the work is to develop simple, accurate, precise and sensitive methods for the determination of the selected drugs together with their different types of impurities. The developed methods include chromatographic, electrochemical and chemometric assisted spectrophotometric methods. The developed methods can be used in quality control laboratories for the determination of the investigated drugs either in pure form or in pharmaceutical dosage forms
