520 _aAn anion exchanger was prepared via graft polymerization of diethyl amino ethyl methacrylate (DEAEMA) followed by quaternization onto viscose fibers , using a thiocarbonate - Fe2+ - hydrogen peroxide redox system as initiatorFurthermore , two types of cation exchangers were also synthesized : the first one by grafting of methacrylic acid (MAA) onto viscose fibers using the same initiator as above , and the second type through carboxymethylation of chitosanFactors affecting the grafting processes such as temperature , initiator concentration , monomer to solid ratio , liquor to solid ratio and polymerization time were reported , and suitable operating parameters for best graft yield were identified
