520 _aRationale and background: Sex determination becomes the first step in the process of identification of a person in the forensic field. Aim of the work:Evaluate sexual dimorphism by using palatal rugae pattern, dental arch dimensions and maxillary canine index and compare their accuracy in sex determination among an adult Egyptian population sample, construct an Egyptian equation for sex determination using the discriminant function analysis of the studied parameters. Participants and methods: The study sample included 200 participants of both sexes (100 males and 100 females) in the age group between 20 and 30 years at the outpatient clinics of the Faculty of Oral and Dental medicine, Cairo University, maxillary arch impressions were taken with alginate impression material using stainless steel impression tray. Results: The mean number of primary rugae was more as compared to secondary rugae, The wavy rugae was the most common followed by the straight rugae, The mean value of the arch width was (46.92±4.03) mm while that of the arch length was (44.26±2.43) mm, The mean value of the left maxillary canine width was higher than that of the right one, The mean intercanine distance ranged between 28.31 and 40.31 mm with a mean of 35.39±2.02 mm while, the mean value of both right maxillary canine index as well as left maxillary canine index were (0.22±0.01), There was a highly statistically significant difference between males and females with a higher male values regarding the total palatal rugae number, wavy rugae number, primary rugae number, arch length, width, maxillary canine right width, maxillary canine left width, Intercanine Distance and maxillary canine right index while
