520 _aBackground: With a high prevalence of hepatitis C in Egypt and the Burden is still rising it was important to assess the knowledge and practices of HCV infected individuals and their relatives, which would determine the further spread of the disease. Objectives: To assess the knowledge and preventive practices regarding HCV in Hepatitis C patients and their relatives presenting at National Hepatology Institute and to formulate recommendations based on study results to improve knowledge and prevent hepatitis C spread. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. The patients of hepatitis C attending the outpatient clinic of National Hepatology Institute, Cairo and their relatives were the study subjects. A convenient sample of 325 patients and 322 of their relatives were interviewed by specific questionnaires after testing their content
