520 | _aBackground: Good balance between Vastus Medialis Obliques and Vastus Lateralis muscles is necessary in order to keep the normal alignment of patellofemoral joint. Therefore, the abnormal relation in the activation pattern of these muscles could alter the dynamics of the patellofemoral joint. Purpose: To investigate the effect of different surfaces and different squat depths on Vastus Medialis Obliques and Vastus Lateralis muscles activities and Vastsu Medialis Obliques /Vastus Lateralis Ratio in healthy males. Subjects and methods: Thirty healthy males whose age ranged from 18-30 years and body mass index from 25 kg/m2 to30 kg/m2.The participates performed body weight squat exercise on stable surface and unstable surface with squat depth 50 o and 80 o knee flexion. electromyograph studywas done by using amplitude potential to detect the vastus medialis obliques and vastus lateralis muscles activities on different squat depths that detected by universal goniometer. Results: 1-squat exercise on squat depth 80oknee flexion increases the Vastus Medialis Obliques and Vastus Laterlais muscles activities, 2-unstable surfaces don{u2019}t change the Vastus Medialis Obliques and Vastus Laterlais muscles activities during squat exercise,3-there are no change in VMO/VL ratio in squat depth 50o,80o in both stable and unstable surface | ||
