520 | _aIn the present thesis, a mathematical model for cooling process inside clinker grate cooler is introduced and COMSOL multiphysics modeling software is used to simulate the temperature distribution of clinker and air inside clinker grate cooler.The proposed model showed that modeling softwares such as COMSOL could be used to simulate heat transfer between moving packed bed and air and significantly reduce the modeling efforts and the computational time when compared to ordinary methods which may use programming software such as Matlab during simulation.The proposed model could be used as a training tool for cement plant operator and as a guiding tool to improve cement plant operation.Temperature distribution of clinker and air in grate cooler were obtained and the results were validated using published data. Finally, the proposed model was used to study the effect of increasing the clinker bed height on the cooling process at same operation parameters | ||
