520 | _aIn this thesis, a new frequency reuse method which is called New Hybrid Frequency Reuse (NHFR) is implemented. In this method, the advantages of Fractional Frequency Reuse (FFR) and Soft Frequency Reuse (SFR) are combined. Firstly, the method is investigated in LTE homogeneous network by measuring the amount of packet loss during the handover using the RIVERBED simulator. Secondly, the method is generalized to include the interference in 4G heterogeneous networks and the allocated resources are distributed to mitigate this interference. Then, the network performance is investigated by driving a generic expression for the downlink signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR). The expression is introduced in order to compare the different frequency reuse methods and to study their performance. The expression is generalized to include LTE-A heterogeneous network. Different performance metrics such as average throughput per user, spectral efficiency and fairness index are introduced by using the generic SINR expression. Besides the analysis, simulations are done by using Vienna simulator and the results show that NHFR outperforms the other methods in both LTE and LTE-A networks. Furthermore, The D2D application which is one of the main keys in 5G networks is investigated. The different types of interference in D2D networks are discussed and simple solutions are introduced | ||
