520 _aSingle Mandibular denture is a condition in which edentulous mandibular arch is opposing maxillary teeth. It is common to find patients with single mandibular dentures but it is a difficult and challenging case. Patients have expectations of receiving a retentive and well-fitting mandibular denture, however the reality of meeting that outcome is generally variable. For decades, polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) has been used to fabricate dentures. The PMMA acrylic denture base prostheses have their own advantages and disadvantages. Some problems with PMMA prosthesis are insertion in bilateral bony undercut areas and allergy to methyl methacrylate monomer. The difficulties encountered by such patients are overcome by either using implant or soft denture base material. Implants are highly effective to reach satisfactory prognosis, but they are not a viable solution for all edentulous patients because of medical, psychological, and {uFB01}nancial constraints.Soft denture liner and flexible denture both share the merits of viscoelastic grip properties and damping effect against heavy masticatory load, yet flexible denture base has prolonged life span and minimal chair side adjustment. This brings us to the question, which is better in lower single denture cases regarding patient satisfaction, to use combined conventional denture base material relined by soft liner or flexible denture base material? To answer this question, research was conducted on 20 patients from the outpatient removable prosthodontics clinic, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. Patients were randomly selected and grouped into two groups of 10 patients each; one group received conventional mandibular single dentures with soft liner. The other group received flexible single dentures. A follow up was done at 3 and 6 months after denture delivery
