520 _aObjective. The purpose of this study was to detect the correlation between body mass index and motor coordination in school aged children. Methods. One hundred children ranged in age from 10-14 years participated in this study. They were selected according to body mass index to be normal weight and obese children, They were divided into two groups, group A (normal weight children) and group B (obese children), each group composed of 50 children. Weight status (normal weight and obese) was defined according to the International Obesity Task Force body mass index cut-off points for children. Gross motor coordination was assessed by means of the Körper koordinations test für Kinder. Results. Childhood obesity was found to result in poorer Körper koordinations test performances. Conclusion. It was concluded that there was significant negative correlation between body mass index and motor coordination in school aged children
