520 _aDiabetes mellitus has become a worldwide health problem with highly increasing incidence and prevalence. DMT2 is the most common type. DM causes many systemic acute and chronic complications. Chronic complications include vascular and non-vascular complications. Oral periodontal diseases listed as the sixth complication of diabetes. Both the metabolic control and the duration of diabetes can negatively affect the oral health status in patients with diabetes. A wide range of soft and hard oral changes have been recorded. The most common oral mucosal alterations are periodontal diseases, oral dryness, and candidal infections. The most common oral complains are altered taste sensation and dryness of the mouth especially at night. This cross-sectional study was performed to assess the prevalence of oral mucosal alterations in patients with DMT2.and to assess the correlation of oral lesions with metabolic control condition of the participants. A total number of 500 participants with DMT2 were recruited from The Diabetes and Endocrinology clinic in Kasr Al-Ainy Cairo University hospital, in the period of December 2018 to July 2019. A questionnaire was performed through an interview between the investigator and the patients. A comprehensive oral examination was done and the existing oral alterations were recorded. The data were statistically analyzed; continuous variables were expressed as the mean ± standard deviation & median ± range
