520 _aResearch is moving rapidly to develop convenient energy resources fulfilling the goals of our modern era. Herein, nickel nanoparticles (NiNPs) and binary nickel-copper nanostructured electrocatalysts were electrodeposited atop commercial carbon felt (CF) and tested for glycerol electro-oxidation (GEOR); the essential anodic reaction of direct glycerol fuel cells (DGFCs). CF has received massive attention owing to its outstanding surface area, low production cost, excellent mechanical and chemical stability and high conductivity. Herein, in part one we have investigated the effect of the surface functionalization of the fibers of these CF via the electrochemical treatments in either sulfuric acid or sodium hydroxide at controlled potential for various times on the performance of the electrodeposited metal nanoparticles (e.g., NiNPs) and in part two we have investigate the effect of addition of Cu to Ni by two different ways (sequential and Co-deposition techniques).Various spectroscopic and microscopic techniques were used together with the electrochemistry tools for linking the structure and morphology of the tailored nanostructured materials to their performance for GEOR
