520 _aThere was significant (P{u2264}0.05) increase in the peaks absorbance for glycogen, phospholipid and polysccharide/glycogen deformation in liver for group (4Gy). Spirulina given before or after gamma irradiation ameliorates these changes. The liver secondary structure of Amide I for 4Gy, showed decrease in Ý - additional and increase in Ü-helix. These changes were repaired by giving spirulina before or after irradiation. For lyophilized Hb there was increase in both Amide A & Amide B absorbance in the secondary amide region for irradiated group. While in the amides region there was non-significant increase in Amide I and significant increase in Amide IV (Tyrosine) and Amide VIII phosphate stretching band. Spirulina ameliorated these changes. Spirulina given before or after gamma irradiation ameliorates the increase in Ý-sheet & the decrease of Ü-helix in Amide I secondary structure. Principle component analysis (PCA) for the FTIR-ATR spectra of all animal groups for the different tissues, demonstrated a cluster of the irradiated group while rest of the groups clustered together. This indicates different molecular changes for the irradiated group other than the rest of the groups. Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) of lyophilized brain, liver and blood tissue indicated increase in the free radicals for 4Gy. Spirulina given before or after gamma irradiation have a free radical scavenging role in brain, liver and blood. We conclude that spirulina ameliorates the damage occurred in white matter than that in grey matter. And it has a protective and curative effect for both liver and Hb/Blood
