520 _aThe objective of this study is to evaluate the botanical study and DNA fingerprinting of Avena sativa L., preliminary phytochemical screening Avena sativa L., biological study of Avena sativa L. Ethanolic extract (70%) and its fractions (viz. petroleum ether, methylene chloride, ethyl acetate and remaining aqueous) were prepared and evaluated for their biological activity, the ethyl acetate followed by petroleum ether fractions are the most potent for all studied activities compared to the other successive fractions in a dose dependent manner.The petroleum ether fraction of grains showed highly potent activity against liver, breast and colon cell lines.
