520 _aThis work has been carried out to investigate the removal of different organic compounds specially Trihalomethanes THMs , Haloacetic acids HAAs , chlorinated pesticides , phenols , Volatile organic carbons VOCs , Total organic carbon TOC and also Bacterial organisms from drinking water , in water treatment plants (WTPs) in Great CairoIt was investigated using different types of coagulants ; disinfectants ; powdered activated carbon PAC and granular activated carbon GAC as a new approach for obtaining potable water with good quality obeying the rules of World Health Organization WHO and Environmental protection agency EPADifferent analytical techniques were used for the analysis , such as gas and liquid chromatography to reach the optimum conditions , which gives good parameter valuesThe best dose of activated carbon for the removal of the previously mentioned pollutants was estimated
