520 | _aThe purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Low level laser therapy versus electromagnetic therapy on trigeminal neuralgia [Subjects and Methods] Forty five patients participated in this study and randomly divided into three groups equal in number (n=15 in each group);groupA, (Control Group) which received medication(carbamazepine{u2013}analgesics-vitamin B12) only, group B, which received medication in addition to low level laser therapy (LLLT) for 20 min/session laser scanner for fifteen Sessions every other day (3 days/ week) and group C, which received medication in addition to electromagnetic therapy for 20 min/ session for fifteen Sessions every other day (3 days/ week). ALL groups were evaluated before and after therapy (5weeks) for the intensity of pain using Visual analogue scale (VAS), and electromyography neurofeedback compound muscle action potentials of masseter and temporalis muscles using NEXUS 10 by (Mind media) device. Results The results of this study showed that there was a statistically significant difference (P<0.05) in VAS score, compound muscle action potentials of Masseter and Temporalis muscles in both study groups B and C but in favor of group (B). There were significant improvements after treatment in all groups, with a significant difference between the Electromagnetic and Laser groups, in favor of the Laser group | ||
