520 _aAim: The aim of the study is to evaluate the effect of application of platelet rich fibrin versus hyaluronic acid in decreasing the postoperative pain and promoting healing in the palatal wound following the free gingival graft procedure. Methodology: 26 patients suffering from different mucogingival defects that required harvesting a free gingival graft (FGG) for soft tissue augmentation. Patients were randomly assigned into two equal groups; Hyaloronic acid group (HA) where the palatal wound was covered by 0.2% Hyaluronic acid gel then covered by a non-eugenol periodontal pack or the Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) group where the palatal wound was covered by platelet rich fibrin (PRF) then covered also with a non-eugenol periodontal pack. The assessment of the postoperative pain following the harvesting of the FGG for both groups was recorded by using the Numerical Pain Score (1-10) for a period of 7 days .The healing of the palatal wound was assessed by using Landry Healing Index at day 3 , 1 week, 2 weeks 3 weeks and 42 days . Results: The post operative pain was assessed using the Numerical Pain Scale (NPS).There was no statistically significance difference between HA group and PRF group,as all patients having reduction in postoperative pain following the harvesting of free gingival graft after 1 week..It was found that there was a statistically significance difference in the palatal wound healing between the two treatment modalities at week 1 in favor for PRF group (P=.002), while at day 3, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 42 days there was no statistically significance difference in the healing of the palatal wound between two treatment modalities (P = 0.678, 0.088, 0.155 and 0.460) as both of them improving the healing of the palatal wound
