520 _aSuccessful joint replacement provides pain relief, restores function and independence, and improves patient quality of life. While the majority of joint arthroplasty provide pain-free function, a minority of patients will experience device failure and will require additional surgery at some point during the life of the device. Reasons for aseptic failure include loosening at the bone cement interface, peri prosthetic fracture, fracture of the prosthetic material itself, wear, and implant malposition, dislocation-instability, or materials fatigue. Prosthetic joint infection (PJI), also referred to as peri prosthetic infection, is defined as infection involving the joint prosthesis and adjacent tissue (Tande AJ et al., 2014). Although infections occur more rarely, they are one of the most feared complications and are potentially fatal (Zajonz D et al., 2015). The nature of implant-related infections is complex. Currently, there is no definitive test for peri prosthetic joint infection and diagnosis remains challenging despite recent developments (Kim SJ et al., 2021). For accurate diagnosis of PJI, a combination of clinical, laboratory
