520 | _aStroke is considered one of the most prevalent clinical conditions causing morbidity, and since rTMS is a method for stimulation cerebral cortex especially motor cortex. Hence, This study focused on the effect of rTMS on motor recovery in early ischemic stroke patients and enhancing patient independence when it comes to his daily needs. Objectives: to study and compare the effect of high and low frequency rTMS on motor recovery in early ischemic stroke patients and subsequently patient independence to determine the best rTMS protocol. Patients and methods: This study was performed on 45 early ischemic stroke patients in neurology department in kobri el kobba military complex, the patients were divided into three groups all receiving the same medical and rehabilitatory treatment. Patients were evaluated at baseline and post intervention using MRC scale to evaluate proximal and distal muscle group, Barthel index ADL was also used to evaluate patient independence at baseline and post intervention. Results: This study found significant statistical improvement in proximal motor power in high frequency rTMS compared to low frequency and sham groups, Yet, This study found no significant statistical difference in distal motor power improvement between the three groups. Also, this study found significant statistical improvement in Barthel ADL index in the high frequency group compared to the other two groups. | ||
