Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), has a substantial negative impacts of quality of life. Ultrasound modality held an effective role for CRS. Up to date, great conflicting opinions concerning effectiveness of physical therapy modalities in CRS management.Aim of Study: to compare therapeutic effects of continuous versus pulsed ultrasound modality in treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis. Material and Methods: Thirty CRS patients, their ages were 20 to 40 years old of both genders recruited from Suez Canal University Hospital, then randomly allocated into equal two groups; first group (A), had received pulsed US, while second group (B) had received continues US. Sinusitis Symptom Score (SSS) was verified to assess both groups prior and after treatment protocol along twelve consecutive sessions. All participants’ data regarding SSS, laboratory lipid profile were measured before starting the treatment and after four weeks of intervention were collected, tabulated then statistically analyzed. Results: No statistically significant differences among groups regarding demographics. Statistical analysis for present study results revealed a statistically significant improvements post study treatment protocol represented in values of Sinusitis Symptom Score (SSS), in all study population with superiorly improved for pulsed US modality group.Conclusion: Both therapeutic US pulsed and continues modes were beneficial for chronic rhinosinusitis management based on twelve consecutive sessions with superior efficient gains by using pulsed therapeutic ultrasound therapy.
الهدف من البحث: دراسة تأثير الموجات فوق الصوتية المستمرة مقابل المترددة في التهابات الجيوب الانفية المزمنة ؛ إثني عشر جلسه متتاليه ،علي ثلاثين مريضاً يعانون من إلتهاب الجيوب الأنفية المزمنة تم إختيارهم من مستشفى قناة السويس الجامعي/ محافظة الاسماعيلية - تتراوح أعمارهم مابين عشرين لأربعين عاما من كلا الجنسين وتم تقسيمهم عشوائيا إلى مجموعتين متساويتين، المجموعة الأولي تلقوا العلاج بالموجات فوق صوتية المترددة بالإضافة للرعاية الطبية،أما المجموعة الثانية فقد تلقوا العلاج بالموجات فوق صوتية المستمرة بالإضافة للرعاية الطبية.تم تقييم شدة الأعراض لمتلازمة الجيوب الأنفية قبل بدء الدراسة وبعد انتهائها. ولقد أظهرت النتائج أن هناك فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية بين كلا المجموعتين وكانت الأفضلية لصالح المجموعة العلاجية الأولى.
