تعني الدراسة بتحليل الدور السياسي للإعلام الجديد في نيجيريا، وذلك لأهمية دوره الذي برز في عام 2011 مع بداية ثورات الدول العربية (الربيع العربي) والتي ألهمت الشباب النيجيري لاستخدام أدوات الإعلام الجديد في الحياة السياسية، وذلك من خلال عرض للمفاهيم النظرية ذات الصلة بالإعلام الجديد، ودوره في الحياة السياسية النيجيرية، ومدى تأثيرها على العملية الانتخابية، والمشاركة السياسية، وتمكين الشباب، والدعوة والحشد للقضايا، ومراقبة آداء الحكومة وأجهزتها، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى أن هناك دور كبير للإعلام الجديد في الحياة السياسية النيجيرية، ويعد حلقة الوصل بين المواطنين والحكومات على المستوى المحلي، وبين المواطنين ومواطني الدول الأخرى والكيانات الدولية على المستوى الدولي.

The study aims to analyze the political role of new media in Nigeria, due to the importance of its role that emerged in 2011 with the beginning of the revolutions in the Arab countries (the Arab Spring), which inspired Nigerian youth to use the tools of new media in political life, through a presentation of theoretical concepts related to new media, Its role in Nigerian political life, and the extent of its impact on the electoral process, political participation, youth empowerment, advocacy and mobilization for issues, and monitoring the performance of the government and its agencies. The study concluded that there is a major role for new media in Nigerian political life, and it is the link between citizens and governments at the local level. And between citizens and citizens of other countries and international entities at the international level.
