يهدف هذا البحث إلى دراسة قصائد الكتاب الأول من ديوان "الأغاني" وذلك عن طريق استخدام المنهج الوصفي في تحليل مضمون القصائد وتصنيفها تبعًا لغرضها الشعري، بالإضافة إلى بيان المبادئ التي قام هوراتيوس باتباعها عند بنائه لهذا الكتاب ولقصائده وكذلك دراسة بحور الشعر التي قام هوراتيوس باستخدامها في كتابه الأول.ومن خلال دراسة الكتاب الأول من الديوان، تبينت لدينا رؤية هوراتيوس لنفسه بوصفه رائد الشعر الغنائي في روما وما ينطلي على ذلك من وجوب إرسائه لأسس يقوم عليها هذا النوع الأدبي الوليد، وذلك من حيث الموضوعات بالإضافة إلى بحور الشعر. وعلى الرغم من تلك الحرية التي أتيحت لهوراتيوس كونه أول من ينظم في هذا النوع الأدبي في روما، فإن هذا لا ينفي التزامه بالعديد من الأفكار التي قام باقتباسها عن سابقيه من الشعراء الإغريق والرومان، ومع ذلك فقد استطاع تحقيق الأصالة من خلال إسهاماته الجديدة التي قام بمزجها مع ما اقتبسه عن سابقيه.

This research aims to study the poems of the first book of Horace's Odes by employing the descriptive methodology in analyzing their content as well as classifying them according to their poetic themes. It also seeks to clarify the principles which were followed by Horace in constructing this book and its poems, as well as to examine the meters he utilized in his first book.Through this study, we discerned Horace's vision of himself as the pioneer of lyric poetry in Rome. This implied a necessity for him to establish foundations upon which this nascent literary genre would stand, both in terms of themes and poetic meters. Despite the freedom afforded to Horace as the first to compose in this genre in Rome, he nonetheless adhered to numerous ideas he adapted from his Greek and Roman predecessors. However, he managed to achieve originality through his novel contributions, which he blended with his adaptations from earlier poets.
