لعب اليمين الدينى المسيحى الأمريكى دورا بارزا فى وضع قضية الحرب فى جنوب السودان على أجندة إدارة الرئيس بوش الأولى (٢٠٠١-٢٠٠٥): و التى انخرطت فى عملية السلام فى السودان : و استمر الدور الأمريكى فى قضية جنوب السودان أثناء فترة تطبيق الاتفاقية التى امتدت من عام ٢٠٠٥حتى التوصل إلى توقيع اتفاقية السلام الشامل السودانية فى عام ٢٠٠٥إلى عام ٢٠١١ الذى شهد استفتاء حق تقرير المصير و إعلان دولة جنوب السودان الجديدة: و خلال الفترة المذكورة برزت عوامل أخرى أسهمت فى التأثير على السياسة الأمريكية تمثلت فى أحداث الحادى عشر من سبتمبر ٢٠٠١ و التى جعلت من قضية التعاون فى مكافحة الأرهاب مصلحة استراتيجية و أولوية للإدارات الأمريكية فى السودان: و كذلك برزت خلال تلك الفترة قضية الصراع فى إقليم دارفور و الذى مثل إحدى محددات السياسة الأمريكية تجاه تطبيق اتفاقية السلام بين الشمال و الجنوب

The American Christian religious right played a prominent role in putting the issue of the war in south Sudan on the agenda of the first Bush’s administration (2001 – 2005). This administration involved in the peace process in Sudan until the Sudanese comprehensive Peace Agreement was signed in 2005. The American role continued in South Sudan issue during the period of the implementing of the agreement, which extended from 2005 to2011,the year witnessed the referendum of the self – determination right and the declaration of the establishment of new South Sudan State. During the mentioned Period, other factors contributed to the impact on the American Policy. These factors are: First, the events of September 11, 2001, which made the cooperation issue in fighting Terrorism strategic interest and priority for the American administration in Sudan. Second, during this period, the issue of conflict in Darfur region, which was one of the American Policy determinates towards the implementation of the peace agreement between the North and the South.
