Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of General Surgery Summary: Gastroesophageal reflux disease "GERD" and hiatus hernia are becoming progressively more common all over the world. Medical management showed good results but not sufficiently addressing the underlying cause. Laparoscopic fundoplication is now the gold standard of management in most cases , however recurrence & dysphagia are the main drawbacks. In this study, anterior hiatal repair was compared to posterior hiatal repair to reach optimum technique during fundoplication
