Neonatal sepsis is an important cause of morbidity and mortality as a result of multiple organ system failure. Transthoracic echocardiography could detect cardiac affection in cases of neonatal sepsis. Cardiovascular involvement may take the form of defective left ventricular diastolic function and impaired global left ventricular function as evidenced by increase of the myocardial performance index (MPI)
