This study aims to establish a drug information center in Cairo University Hospitals to serve the health care providers and patients, it aims also to describe the established DIC, its existing facilities and services and then assess the workload of the center and evaluate the quality of the service provided. The staff members were requested to describe the frequency for the need to ask a question(s) related to medicine(s), 50% replied that it was a daily need. Related to the opinion of the participants in the survey about the usefulness of the DIS to be provided in the hospital, majority (89.9%) of the responders approved the value to have such a service in the hospital, most (95.3%) of the respondents confirmed their intention to use the DIC in the future. Establishing the Kasr Alainy drug Information center (KDIC) in Cairo university hospitals followed several standards. A KDIC software system was designed in house to be user-friendly during receiving, documenting, and archiving different questions. The KDIC service was then evaluated from the user perspective by means of a user satisfaction survey that probed the opinion of the respondent about the helpfulness, the speed of the answer and whether they applied the answer or not. 98% of the participants in the survey were satisfied by the speed of the answer
