By the end of this study , some cannot - miss findings may prove to be of clinical importance in practicing neurosurgery ; The study showed that the symptoms and signs of patients with recurrent disc herniation were not different from those with a primary disc herniationMainly sciatica , low back pain and back tendernessLength of the time interval for beginning of sciatica after the initial operation correlated well with outcomePatients whose symptoms recurred later (after one year) seemed to have better outcomesWe found that the duration of the present attack of sciatica and sick leave before surgery was significantly longer in the group with an unsatisfactory
