A Moisturizer is a product applied to the skin , mostly an emulsion containing or an active substance such as a lotion , cream , ointment or bath oil with the purpose of rehydrating the skinMoisturizers are complex formulations designed to maintain the water content of the skin between 10nd 30They attempt to mimic the role of epidermal lipids in the skin barrierThe classification of moisturizers is not uniformMoisturizers function through repairing the skin barrier , increasing water content and reducing water lossMoisturizers include humectants , occlusives and emollientsThey are used for treatment of dry skin and sensitive skin conditionsSeveral formulas are available nowadays
