يقوم موضوع الدراسة بشكل رئيسي حول متابعة ورصد وتحليل مسار العلاقات بين فرنسا وإيطاليا، وأبرز التحولات، والمجالات والقضايا التي شهدت توافقا بين الدولتين، وكذلك القضايا مثار الخلاف التي كانت سببا رئيسيا في تباعد وجهات النظر بينهما، ثم تنتقل الدراسة لتسليط الضوء على انعكاسات هذه العلاقات الثنائية على أدوارهما في أفريقيا وتحديدا في؛ (ليبيا، والساحل، وشرق أفريقيا) منذ عام 2012، وتركز الدراسة على مواضع التعاون والتنافس بين الدولتين في مختلف الحالات الأفريقية سواء في المجالات السياسية أو العسكرية أو الاقتصادية، وتداعيات ذلك التعاون أو التنافس على الأمن والاستقرار في أفريقيا. ومن أهم نتائج الدراسة، أن العلاقات الفرنسية الإيطالية أثرت سلبا على الأوضاع السياسية والأمنية في ليبيا، بينما أثرت إيجابا على الأمن والاستقرار في الساحل وشرق أفريقيا. The study mainly focuses on monitoring and analyzing the track of relations between France and Italy, and the most prominent shifts, beside the issues that witnessed Convergences between the two countries, as well as the controversial issues that were a major reason for the divergence of views between them. The study to shed light on the impact of these bilateral relations on their roles in Africa, specifically in (Libya, the Sahel, East Africa) since 2012. It focuses on aspects of cooperation and rivalry between the two countries in various African cases, whether in the political, military or economic fields.
One of the most important results of this study is that French-Italian relations negatively affected the political and security situation in Libya, while positively affected security and stability in the Sahel and East Africa.
