تناولت الدراسة الأهمية الكبيرة لليورانيوم على الاقتصاد الأفريقي، حيث يُعد أحد أهم الموارد الطبيعية في القارة، فإن أفريقيا تمتلك حوالي 10% من احتياطيات اليورانيوم في العالم، وتتمثل أهمية اليورانيوم في الاقتصاد الأفريقي فى أنه يُعد أحد أهم مصادر الدخل القومي للعديد من الدول الأفريقية، يشكل نسبة كبيرة من صادراتها وحيث يُشكل اليورانيوم حوال25% من صادرات ناميبيا، بالإضافة إلى كونه يوفر فرص عمل مباشرة وغير مباشرة للعديد من العمال في أفريقيا، جذب الاستثمارات الأجنبية إلى أفريقيا كما أظهرت الدراسة أهمية معدن اليورانيوم كأحد أهم الموارد الطبيعية في ناميبيا، حيث يمتلك البلاد احتياطيات كبيرة منه، فإن ناميبيا تمتلك حوالي 12% من احتياطيات اليورانيوم في العالم؛ فهو أحد أهم مصادر الدخل القومي لناميبيا، حيث يشكل حوالي 25% من صادراتها، وفي عام 2022 بلغت صادرات ناميبيا من اليورانيوم حوالي 1.5 مليار دولار أمريكي، يوفر قطاع اليورانيوم فرص عمل مباشرة وغير مباشرة للعديد من العمال في ناميبيا، إلى جانب جذب الاستثمارات الأجنبية إلى ناميبيا. وناقشت الدراسة التحديات التي تواجه قطاع تعدين اليورانيوم ومنها: ارتباط صناعة اليورانيوم بمخاطر بيئية، مثل التلوث الإشعاعي، ومخاطر سياسية لارتباط استخدام اليورانيوم في إنتاج الأسلحة النووية. تستخلص الدراسة نمو الطلب على اليورانيوم في المستقبل، خاصة مع تزايد الطلب على الطاقة النووية في العالم؛ وذلك بسبب الحاجة إلى مصادر طاقة مستدامة وصديقة للبيئة، وهذا النمو في الطلب على الطاقة النووية سيؤدي إلى زيادة الطلب على اليورانيوم، باعتباره المادة الخام الأساسية في صناعة الطاقة النووية. The study addressed the great importance of uranium to the African economy, as it is one of the most important natural resources on the continent, as Africa possesses about 10% of the world's uranium reserves, and the importance of uranium in the African economy is that it is one of the most important sources of national income for many African countries, constituting a large percentage of their exports, as uranium constitutes about 25% of Namibia's exports, in addition to providing direct and indirect job opportunities for many workers in Africa, attracting foreign investments to Africa. The study also showed the importance of uranium as one of the most important natural resources in Namibia, as the country has large reserves of it, as Namibia possesses about 12% of the world's uranium reserves; it is one of the most important sources of national income for Namibia, as it constitutes about 25% of its exports, and in 2022, Namibia's uranium exports amounted to about 1.5 billion US dollars. The uranium sector provides direct and indirect job opportunities for many workers in Namibia, in addition to attracting foreign investments to Namibia. The study discussed the challenges facing the uranium mining sector, including: the uranium industry's association with environmental risks, such as radioactive contamination, and political risks associated with the use of uranium in the production of nuclear weapons. The study concludes that demand for uranium will grow in the future, especially with the increasing demand for nuclear energy in the world; This is due to the need for sustainable and environmentally friendly energy sources, and this growth in demand for nuclear energy will lead to an increase in demand for uranium, as it is the basic raw material in the nuclear energy industry.
