Background: Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition of the lung affecting
primarily the microscopic air sacs known as alveoli. It is usually caused by
infection with viruses or bacteria and less commonly other microorganisms,
certain drugs, and other conditions such as autoimmune diseases.
Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of thoracic kinesio-tape on
Pulmonary Functions, time to clinical resolution and respiratory rate and arterial
oxygen saturation in children with pneumonia.
Methods: Thirty children with pneumonia from both sexes with age ranged
from 4 to 7 years participated in this study. The patients were divided into two
equal groups (study and control groups), control group received selected chest
physiotherapy exercise including Postural drainage, vibration, coughing, huffing
and percussion. Study group received the same selected physical therapy
program given to control group in addition to thoracic kinesio-tape three days
per week for two weeks. lung infiltrates were assessed using X-ray, pulmonary
function was assessed by Digital spirometer, oxygen saturation was assessed by
Pulse oximeter and respiratory distress presentations was assessed by Clinical
Respiratory Score. All outcome measures were assessed pre and post treatment.
Results: within group analysis revealed that there were statistically significant
improvements in respiratory rate, O2 saturation, and clinical respiratory score
and pulmonary functions. Between groups analysis showed no significant
improvements in all measured variables.
Conclusion: There is no significant effect of adding thoracic kinesio-taping to
traditional chest physiotherapy in children with pneumonia. الخلفية :الالتهاب الرئوي هو حالة التهابية في الرئة تؤثر في المقام الأول على الأكياس الهوائية المجهرية المعروفة باسم الحويصلات الهوائية. عادة ما يكون سببه الإصابة بالفيروسات أو البكتيريا والكائنات الحية الدقيقة الأخرى، وبعض الأدوية، وحالات أخرى مثل أمراض المناعة الذاتية. الغرض من البحث:دراسة تأثير الشريط اللاصق للقفص الصدري على وظائف الرئة، والوقت اللازم للشفاء السريري ومعدل التنفس وتشبع الأكسجين الشرياني لدى الأطفال المصابين بالالتهاب الرئوي.الأشخاص والأساليب:شارك في هذه الدراسة ثلاثون طفلاً مصاباً بالالتهاب الرئوي من كلا الجنسين تراوحت أعمارهم بين 4 إلى 7 سنوات. تم تقسيم المرضى إلى مجموعتين متساويتين (مجموعتي الدراسة والتحكم)، تلقت مجموعة التحكم تمارين مختارة من العلاج الطبيعي للصدر بما في ذلك التصريف الوضعي، والاهتزاز، والسعال، والنفخ، والقرع. تلقت مجموعة الدراسة نفس برنامج العلاج الطبيعي المختار للمجموعة التحكم بالإضافة إلى الشريط الحركي الصدري ثلاثة أيام في الأسبوع لمدة أسبوعين. تم تقييم ارتشاح الرئة باستخدام الأشعة السينية، وتم تقييم وظيفة الجهاز التنفسي بواسطة مقياس التنفس الرقمي، وتم تقييم تشبع الأكسجين بواسطة مقياس التأكسج النبضي وتم تقييم عروض الضائقة التنفسية بواسطة درجة الجهاز التنفسي السريرية. تم تقييم جميع مقاييس النتائج قبل وبعد العلاج.النتائج:ضمن تحليل المجموعة كشفت أن هناك تحسينات ذات دلالة إحصائية في معدل التنفس، وتشبع O2، ودرجة الجهاز التنفسي السريرية ووظائف الرئة. بين تحليل المجموعات لم تظهر أي تحسينات كبيرة في جميع المتغيرات المقاسة.
الخلاصة:لا يوجد أي تأثير لإضافة الشريط اللاصق للقفص الصدرى إلى العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي للصدر لدى الأطفال المصابين بالالتهاب الرئوي.
