Aplastic anemia must be distinguished from other conditions with marrow hypocellularity The most difficult distinction to make is frequently between aplastic anemia and hypocellular myelodysplastic syndrome The most important feature is the presence of clusters of blalst cells which are indicative of the latter diagnosis
