Colorectal cancer represents a major public health problem as it ranks third in frequency in men and second in women . However colorectal cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer mortality because it has a better prognosis than more common cancer . Colorectal cancer account for about 11% of new cancer diagnoses . If detected early the five - year survival rate of patients with colorectal cancer is 90%
