Non-selective cyclooxgenase (COX) inhibitors are effective anti-inflammatory agents . However , side effects such as gastric ulcers and abdominal pain have been reported . Selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors have less gastric side effects but they were reported to increase the susceptibility of systemic hypertension and thromboembolic complication such as myocardial infarction
