The incidence of iliopsoas abscess (IPA) is rare but the frequency of this diagnosis has increased with the use of ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT). The vague presentation leads to delays in diagnosis and increases morbidity. Managing iliopsoas abscess is still forming a therapeutic challenge. The aim of this research was to study the epidemiological features of iliopsoas abscess including the variations of etiology, risk factors, clinical presentation and to evaluate the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of (IPA). A series of 9 patients with IPA were studied as regards their medical history, clinical examination and routine laboratory investigations. Abdomino-pelvic ultrasound was done for all patients and the characteristic songraphic aspects of IPA were described. Ultrasound guided percutaneous needle aspiration of the iliopsoas collection and laboratory investigations of the aspirated fluid were done for all patients
