Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Computers and Information - Department of Information Systemes
Detecting and resolving projects failures in Information System (IS) is a highly desirable process. Being able to do so depends on the proper identification of underlying causes for failures; which are often difficult to identify accurately. One of the fundamental enablers of this identification is the suitable categorization of the related causes. Another issue that helps in failure handling is the prioritization of failure causes. To be able to categorize and prioritize IS failures and their causes; it has to be quantitatively and qualitatively analyzed. This thesis will concentrate on both quantitative and qualitative analysis for IS failures. This will be done through building a new framework that starts with developing a categorization and severity prioritization techniques for IS projects failure causes, identifying some of these categories, and ends with providing a simple justification for causes behind this failure. Any IS project may have failure causes belonging to more than one category at the same time and this may affect its importance and priority for resolving
