Chemotaxonomic Study of Some Galium L. (Rubiaceae) Species in Libya / دراسة الكيمياء التصنيفية لبعض أنواع جنس الجاليوم في ليبيا Amani Faraj Gumma Bahur ; Supervised Monier M. Abdelhhani , Shahnaz A. Alwakeel , M. Hani Moubasher - Cairo : Amani Faraj Gumma Bahur , 2014 - 177 P. : charts , facsimiles ; 25cm
Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Botany - Microbiology
The present study aims to revise systematically some species of the genus Galium in Libya, to examine the biosystematic variability of this genus. Five widely distributed species were considered , viz., Galium murale (L.) All., G. tricornutum Dandy, G. aparine L., G. setaceum Lam., and G. verrucosum Huds. The results showed a great systematic variation among the studied species depending on DELTA software and SEM techniques, as well as factorial analysis using PCA . The relationship between the soil variables and the studied populations of Galium species was assessed by application of PCA. Fourteen flavonoid compounds were detected in five Galium species . The flavonoid patterns showed a predominant of quercetin-3-rutinoside, while the other compounds were variable in quality, quantity and in their distribution among the investigated samples
