Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is characterized by loss of B-cell tolerance so Syndecan-1 (SDC-1) which is expressed on plasma cells derived from B-cells is thought to play a role in SLE . This is a cross-sectional study conducted on 60 JSLE patients and 30 healthy controls . Serum SDC-1 level was measured using ELISA technique and correlated with different clinical and laboratory data as well as SLEDAI-2K , renal SLEDAI , renal activity scores . Our results showed that Syndecan-1 is significantly higher in SLE patients compared with controls . Also, it has positive correlation with activity scores so it can be used as a marker for disease activity and renal activity in JSLE patients
